When Will I See the Judge in my Bankruptcy Case?

Probably never! Filing bankruptcy is mainly an administrative proceeding with no judge or courtroom involvement in the vast majority of Chapter 7 cases. In Chapter 13 cases there may be some hearings before a Judge in your case, but for most of these proceedings only your attorney is required to attend. If there are any hearings in your case, your attorney will explain what is needed from you to keep your case on track and accomplish the goals of the case.

In the unlikely event you have to go in front of a judge, don’t worry because they’re really nice! And if you are one of our clients, we’ll be there with you.

If you have questions about how bankruptcy works give us a call. We’re happy to explain the procedure, and how your specific needs can be best addressed.
